World’s Tallest Wellness Resort of 100-Meter to Be Constructed in Dubai

Diller Scofidio + Renfro has announced plans for the world’s largest 100-meter-tall wellness resort in Dubai’s Zabeel Park. The project will focus on relaxation and recreation while adding to Dubai’s urban landscape. It is part of the city’s efforts to grow its wellness and tourism sector.

Features of Therme Dubai

The resort will include indoor and outdoor facilities catering to different wellness and leisure needs:

  • Thermal pools, saunas, and steam rooms
  • Mineral baths and hydrotherapy options
  • Water slides and recreational water areas
  • Botanical gardens with various plant species
  • Multiple restaurants offering different dining experiences
  • Dedicated event spaces for cultural and wellness gatherings
  • Indoor and outdoor relaxation zones
  • Spaces designed for year-round use, adapting to seasonal changes

These facilities will be structured into three sections—Play, Relax, and Restore—providing varied experiences for visitors. The project aims to serve diverse demographics, ensuring that different age groups and preferences are accommodated through its range of offerings.

Design and Architecture

Therme Dubai is planned as a multi-level structure emerging from the waters of Zabeel Park. The resort consists of stacked botanical platforms, each forming a distinct environment. Open-air terraces, gardens, and thermal pools are integrated into the design, making water and plant life central to the experience.

Key design features include:

  • Blending Nature with Urban Spaces
  • Maximization of green spaces
  • Water as a core design element
  • Differentiated environments across levels
  • Panoramic views of Dubai’s skyline
  • Smart resource management for energy and water conservation

The structure is designed to ensure accessibility and connectivity between spaces. Pathways, ramps, and seamless transitions between levels aim to provide ease of movement for visitors. The use of natural lighting and ventilation enhances the indoor environment while reducing reliance on artificial climate control systems.

Alignment with Dubai’s Vision

The project aligns with Dubai’s Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which focuses on infrastructure that enhances urban well-being. It has received approval from Dubai’s ruler, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and supports the broader vision of integrating natural elements into urban development.

Sustainability measures include recycling 90 percent of the thermal pool water to reduce environmental impact and ensuring that 80 percent of cooling and air supply needs are met through clean energy sources. The project is part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Plan, which promotes pedestrian-friendly environments and increased public green spaces. Other developments, such as the transformation of Expo City Dubai into an urban hub by UNStudio, align with this broader approach.

Therme Dubai is expected to impact the city’s economy and society. The project will create jobs in hospitality, wellness, and maintenance. Cultural and recreational spaces WILL also bring people together, promoting community engagement and participation in wellness activities.

Project Timeline and Future Impact

  • Construction Start: 2026
  • Expected Completion: 2028
  • Projected Annual Visitors: 1.7 million

Contribution to Wellness Tourism in the Region

Therme Dubai will enhance wellness tourism by combining water, greenery, and cultural spaces, attracting both residents and international visitors. The project supports Dubai’s hospitality and entertainment sectors, strengthening its role as a wellness destination.

According to Therme Group founder Robert Hanea, the development serves as a model for incorporating nature, water, and culture into urban spaces. Once completed, it will function as a key attraction, providing a structured setting for relaxation and recreation.

Conclusion

Therme Dubai will offer a wellness-focused space, attracting visitors, creating jobs, and contributing to urban development.
