People will soon benefit from 4-lane highway connectivity between Kishanganj and Bahadurganj in the state. The Rs 1,117-crore project is expected to improve the connection between NH-27 and NH-327E, ensuring smoother travel and trade between the regions of Kishanganj district. The construction work for the project will commence shortly, road construction minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said on Thursday.
The 23-km-long highway will begin at North Rampur village in Kishanganj and end at Satal Ishtamarar village in Bahadurganj. This project is expected to improve regional connectivity, reduce travel time and stimulate economic growth in the area.Sinha said, “The project is a crucial step towards developing Bihar’s infrastructure. The journey from Kishanganj to Bahadurganj, which currently takes 45 minutes, will be reduced to just 20 minutes. By improving regional connectivity, we aim to simplify the lives of local residents and drive economic growth in the state.”
He added that the new highway will form an integral part of the East-West corridor, directly linking the two major national highways, NH 327E (Araria – Galgalia) and NH 27 (Purnea – Muzaffarpur). A tender for the spur construction has been issued with the deadline for receiving bids set for Feb 4.
This development will not only improve connectivity but also facilitate easier travel from various cities to Bagdogra airport in Siliguri.
“The project is expected to generate employment opportunities during both its construction and operation phases, contributing to the local economy. With this initiative, the Centre reaffirms its commitment to developing the country’s infrastructure, promoting economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens,” Sinha said.
