Web portal launched for rectification of land records in Jharkhand

Director of land acquisition and land archives, Jharkhand, Uma Shankar Singh told TOI that many could not benefit from the schemes under Jharbhoomi, a portal for online land registration, due to documentation errors.

The department of revenue, registration and land reforms has launched an online portal to help citizens correct the errors in their land related documents.

Director of land acquisition and land archives, Jharkhand, Uma Shankar Singh told TOI that many could not benefit from the schemes under Jharbhoomi, a portal for online land registration, due to documentation errors.

“Parishodhan, the online portal, has been launched on April 15 to fasten and simplify the process of document rectification related to one’s land. The online system will simplify the process of khatiyan entry and registration as well as amend wrong or incorrect entries in khatiyan and registration in the documentation portal,” he said.

“One can now apply online for correction of errors related to rent, including their name, address, khata, plot or area, on the Parishodhan portal. Now, people can raise their issues from home and wouldn’t have to make multiple rounds of the circle office or district collector office,” Singh added.

Applicants will get a trackable complaint number after submitting an online application. “The registered complaint will be transferred to the officer concerned and the complaint will reflect pending unless resolved.”

Within a span of three days, the portal has registered 288 complaints, “of which, 55 are of Ranchi district, while 53 are each from Palamu and Hazaribagh,” he added.

The department of revenue and land reforms has developed http://jharbhoomi.nic.in in association with National Informatics Centre (NIC) to digitise the land records system.

In absence of data or error in records, many people were unable to access their land records and there was no provision to suggest corrections — the new portal would help them register their objections / corrections which in due course after verification will reflect on Jharbhoomi.
