Soon HDMC to inspect the works finished by Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City

The special team consisting of HDMC commissioner Ishwar Ullagaddi and elected representatives of HDMC will inspect the work and take a final call on completing the handing over process.

Soon the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) will begin the process of handing over all the development work done by the Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL). If everything goes as per plan in the forthcoming general body meeting of the HDMC, the handing over process will be completed.

The special team consisting of HDMC commissioner Ishwar Ullagaddi and elected representatives of HDMC will inspect the work and take a final call on completing the handing over process. The team will examine the work with experts and if required, suggest proper work to the HDSCL officials, once they finish all the suggested work by the special team, the HDMC is expected to take over the projects.

In Hubballi city, many projects done under the HDSCL have remained unused because of delay in the handing over process – Nehru Stadium, Chitaguppi Hospital, many roads, Janata Bazaar, Mahatma Gandhi Park, Indira Glass House, toy train, puzzle parking, Unkal Lake, Tolankere park redevelopment work are the major projects, which were already completed and inaugurated, but they were not officially handed over to the HDMC.

According to the sources, recently Union minister Pralhad Joshi directed the officials of HDMC to find a solution and initiate proper action to complete the handing over process.

Ishwar Ullagaddi said that they have decided to inspection all sites and projects done by HDSCL. A special team, including officials, elected representatives, mainly corporators and other technical experts, will visit all the projects and take a stock of quality, conditions and other aspects.

“In a week’s time all the process of inspection and other work will be completed and the subject will be put before the HDMC general body. After taking consent from the general body, the handing over process needs to be done,” he added.

Basavaraj Dharmanti, DGM, Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City Limited, said that in the beginning after inspection by executive engineers and other technical staff of HDMC, they have suggested some corrections in the work, which have already been done. “Now, if any changes or corrections are suggested we need to check whether the Defects Liability Period (DLP) is there or over, if DLP is over, then we have to request contractors and get the work done,” he said.
