Shree Vardhman Flora’s builder fails to clear dues to DHBVN

This comes after the discom snapped the power supply of the housing society on Monday owing to the pending electricity bills of over Rs 12 lakh.

Residents of Shree Vardhman Flora, located in Sector 90, have filed a complaint to the deputy commissioner against the developer for failing to pay electricity dues to Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) despite collecting the same from them through a pre-paid system.

This, they said, has compelled them to depend on DG sets for the last three days, which is adding to their financial woes.

This comes after the discom snapped the power supply of the housing society on Monday owing to the pending electricity bills of over Rs 12 lakh. The discom restored the power supply around 6 pm on Thursday when the developer paid the partial payment of Rs 8 lakh with an assurance to pay the remaining by August 30.

Rahul Sagwan, executive engineer of DHBVN said, “Now we have received a partial payment of Rs 8 lakh with undertaking from the developer saying that the remaining amount will be deposited by August 30. We are restoring the connection and if the developer fails to do so timely, we will be bound to disconnect the electricity supply again.”

Dhanraj Kedia, a resident said, “We were initially told that the outage was due to some technical reason, which the discom would rectify. However, when the electricity was not restored for two days, we got to know that supply was snapped due to not clearing of dues by the builder.”

Meanwhile, Sanjiv Japal, estate manager of the society, said that no services have been affected as they are providing the electricity through G power backup. “We have deposited the demand draft to the discom and the power supply has been restored. We have already informed the residents that we will talk to top management and ask them to charge at grid rate for power supply through DG for the past two days,” he said.
