The enforcement team of town and country planning department has intensified its action against mushrooming of illegal colonies in and around the city. In the last five days, the department has freed more than 37 acres of prime agricultural land in the city by razing around 120 under construction buildings and offices in 7 illegal colonies.
On Monday, the team of officials along with police force cleared seven-acre land in 2 illegal colonies located it Sector 70. Around 30 under-construction buildings and road network were dismantled with the help of two earthmovers.
District town planner Amit Madholia said, during the drive, 24 under-construction buildings, two property dealers offices, four boundary walls and road network, were demolished.
Earlier on Thursday the team of officials carried out massive demolition drive in Garhi Harsaru along with 100 policemen and razed five illegal colonies. The colonies had come up on 27 acre agricultural land. A senior official said seven under construction houses, two offices, 14 boundary walls and 81 other structures were demolished during the drive.
Officials said the department would urge the Gurgaon police to file FIRs against the offenders.
“The offenders have violated the norms by subdividing land for the purpose of colony. The offenders are deliberately violating the provisions of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975,” Madholia said. He said the violation of the act is a punishable offence with imprisonment of up to 3 years, and “therefore, the department will soon register a police complaint against the offenders”. “We will also write to the police to stop the development of unauthorised colonies by the offenders,” he said.
