The 49th Network Planning Group meeting of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan two days ago has recommended a roadways project in Tripura to boost regional connectivity, officials here said on Saturday.
According to the decision, the road section of Khowai-Teliamura-Harina with a total length of 134.9 km was considered for its improvement and widening to two lanes with paved shoulders of NH-208 in Tripura at the cost of Rs 2,486 crore.
The project is planned with a multimodal connectivity approach; connectivity to industrial clusters and new SEZ in West Jalefa village of South Tripura, efficient freight movement; reducing carbon footprint; optimised alignment and logistical efficiency, officials added. The project is expected to enhance regional connectivity, as this corridor is close to the Bangladesh border and it would connect Bangladesh through Kailashahar, Kamalpur and Khowai border check posts, they added.
