The MC has appealed to residents to adhere to the December 31 deadline for payment of property tax without penalty.
According to MC records, more than 34,300 property owners in the city are yet to pay tax for the financial year 2022-23. Those who make the payment after Saturday will have to pay penalty.
To facilitate residents, the civic body has decided to keep Suvidha Kendras in all four zonal offices open on Saturday. Residents will have to pay 10% penalty on tax from January 1 till March 31, 2023.
After March, the penalty will increase to 20% of the total tax besides an additional 18% per annum interest on delayed payments.
Officiating MC commissioner, Aaditya Dachalwal said residents could also pay tax online at mcludhiana(dot)go(dot)in to avoid standing in long queues. ā
