PM Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for industrial area Vikram Udyogpuri in Ujjain, multi-modal logistics park at Pithampur and academic buildings at Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT-I) on Monday.The PM was in Gwalior on Monday to launch a slew of development projects including many through the virtual mode. “Vikram Udyogpuri in Ujjain and the multi-modal logistics park will give a push to the industrial growth of MP,” said PM Modi while addressing the gathering.
The industrial area, Vikram Udyogpuri, has attracted an investment of close to Rs 4,200 crore from 39 units of which six industries have become operational while some industries are at a negotiating stage with the state government for making investment. The park is spread over 458 hectare. Some of the industries that have proposed investment in Vikram Udyogpuri are PepsiCo India, Amul, Ashirvad Pipes, Symbiotic Life, Karnataka Antibiotics, Yashoda Linen and Srinivas Pharma.
Ujjain MP Anil Firojiya addressing the gathering at an event hosting the PM’s programme live said, “Aditya Birla Group has intended to invest Rs 5,000 crore in Ujjain. I am personally in touch with industries contemplating investing in the city.” MP Industrial Development Corporation Indore executive director Rajesh Rathod said, “The inauguration of Vikram Udyogpuri and multi-modal logistics park is a historic moment. The establishment of industrial and logistic belts will boost the industrial system and attract investment from industries. These facilities will generate employment opportunities for thousands of people.”
The PM also inaugurated the academic buildings, student’s hostels under PM-AJAY scheme and the third phase of the institute’s infrastructure development at IIT-I.
