PDA opens window for online application of PMAY houses

“The window for the online application for the allotment of these PMAY houses commenced from Thursday and would be open for a period of one month,” said PDA vice-chairman Arvind Chauhan.

The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has opened the online application for allotment of 76 houses being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) on a piece of land that was freed from mafioso-turned-politician and former MP Atiq Ahmed, from Thursday.

“The window for the online application for the allotment of these PMAY houses commenced from Thursday and would be open for a period of one month,” said PDA vice-chairman Arvind Chauhan.

“We are constructing two blocks on the land measuring 1,731 square meter and these would be ground plus three-storey buildings,” said Chauhan.

Block A would have 36 houses while block B would have 40 houses, online applications for which have started, he added.

The foundation stone of the ambitious project, which hogged the limelight during this year’s assembly elections, was laid by chief minister Yogi Adityanath in December 2021.

The houses are being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana on the land that is located under Allahabad West assembly seat.

Before being elected as MP from Phulpur, Atiq Ahmed was an MLA from this assembly seat five times in a row. Later, his winning streak was broken by Raju Pal who contested from Bahujan Samaj Party. But after his assignation in 2005 and the follow-up by-poll, Atiq’s younger brother had won the seat.

“We ensure that the entire process, from applying online for the allotment of PMAY houses to allotment of the houses is totally transparent,” said Chauhan.

I have inspected the site and ensured that there would be no shortage of constructing material and there would be no compromise with the norms, he added.
