Offenders may lose land ownership, says JDA

As per the JDA records, in the last three-and-half years, action has been taken against 501 illegal colonies in Jaipur, which were developed without the permission of JDA.

 The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will soon take action against land mafias and strip the ownership of landowners who have illegally developed colonies on agriculture land.

As per the JDA records, in the last three-and-half years, action has been taken against 501 illegal colonies in Jaipur, which were developed without the permission of JDA. Out of these colonies, more than 50 colonies owners are habitual offenders and attempted twice or thrice to develop illegal colonies.

A senior enforcement wing official said, “The JDA is planning to take action against the repeated offenders they end up duping common man’s investment. Moreover, it’s also a revenue loss for the government.”

With a spurt in population and increase in demand for land, the illegal construction and development of colonies in the city is on the rise.

A senior JDA official said, “Our agenda is to act against the mafias who are using agricultural land for non-agricultural and commercial purpose after illegally developing a colony. We have taken strict decisions to curb the practice,” he said.

A list of illegal buildings constructed in violation of building bylaws has also been uploaded on the website. As per the JDA records action on more than 150 colonies has been taken in last seven months.

The enforcement wing official said, “Since 2019, the civic body has taken action on 501 illegal colonies. In this, maximum 159 colonies have been settled in the last 7 months this year. Looking at the zone wise situation of JDA, maximum 109 colonies were developed in Zone 12 area, which falls between Ajmer Road to Sikar Road.”

An official said, “To discourage such practices in future, proceedings for cancelling ownership have been implemented under Section 175 of Rajasthan Tenancy Act against land holders has initiated.”
