Now Rs 4 lakh compensation for death at construction site

“The financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh given to a family in case of death of a construction worker at the workplace will be raised to Rs 4 lakh. Similarly, the financial assistance given to a worker in case of disability due to an accident at the workplace will also be doubled,” the CM said.

Compensation amount is raised to Rs 4 lakh in case of death of construction workers at workplace and providing annual free health checkups for their near and dear ones, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar made a number of announcements for workers and their families on Saturday.

Khattar was in Gurgaon to attend the Rajkiya Shramik Diwas programme, organised on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti at Leisure Valley Grounds in Sector 29.

“The financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh given to a family in case of death of a construction worker at the workplace will be raised to Rs 4 lakh. Similarly, the financial assistance given to a worker in case of disability due to an accident at the workplace will also be doubled,” the CM said.

Khattar also announced a family health test scheme for free medical checkup of all workers and their families once a year. “The state government will also open 200 Shram Yogi clinics in the state for cashless health checkup of workers. We will also start 100 advanced life support ambulances to carry workers to hospital in case of accidents and other illnesses.”

At the same time, 100 canteens will be opened across the state under the Antyodaya Aahar Yojana, where the workers and daily wagers will get food for Rs 10 a plate, he said.

The CM also announced to increase the financial assistance given to differently abled students from Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 per month, besides giving Rs 2,500 per month to children suffering from thalassemia. “Policy has been formulated to provide employment to local youth in industries, and children of migrant families residing in Haryana for more than five years will also get the benefit of this scheme,” he said.

Congratulating the workers present at the state-level function, the CM said, “You have made significant contributions to the progress of the state. So, the government is responsible for your family’s education, health and employment. For your cooperation at every level, work is being done to benefit you by implementing the schemes through the labour department.”

Talking about health services, he said that in coordination with the Union government, free healthcare services would be provided to the workers at ESI Hospital as well as in health centers across the state.

“Today, Haryana has become a preferred destination for investors around the world. The workers have corroborated government efforts in bringing about incomparable changes in the state. With the help of these workers, we have become self-reliant in the manufacturing sector,” the CM added.
