The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided to stop the water and electricity supply to the people who are still residing in dilapidated buildings. The civic body has been sending repeated notices to these people to relocate.
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and the water supply department of the KMC has been asked to stop both power and water supply.
Sandeep Gharge, KMC’s assistant commissioner, said, “The citizens, who are residing in such dilapidated buildings, which have ongoing court matters between te owner and the tenants have been being instructed to evacuate the building. If the dwellers of such dangerous properties do not listen, then the police are informed. The water supply department has been informed to cut off their water supply, while MSEDCL has been informed about the power cuts to be carried out.”
KMC officials surveyed the temporary shelter homes that will be created by KMC in case of floods.
The facilities of light, water and other basic amenities were checked.
