NMC uploads details of building completion certificates online

Details like the total carpet areas of the property/building, date of BCC issuance, plot number, survey number and address will also be available.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has put online the details of Building Completion Certificates (BCCs) issued to new properties. This is to enable the civic body’s property tax department to start charging property tax on the new properties.

When a BCC is given to a new property, its BCC records will go online on the website – NMCtax.in — simultaneously. Details like the total carpet areas of the property/building, date of BCC issuance, plot number, survey number and address will also be available.

Putting BCC records of new buildings or properties online will help the property tax department to start charging taxes. The property owners will not need to apply to commence the property tax process, said an NMC official.

Earlier, there was no coordination between the town planning and property tax departments of the NMC. The property tax department would start charging property tax only after the property owners applied for the same. This often took a long time and the NMC lost revenue.

Meanwhile, the municipal corporation has set a property tax collection target of Rs 218.86 crore for the current financial year. So far, the NMC has collected Rs 102 crore in property tax.

During the last financial year (2018-19), the civic body had collected property tax amounting to Rs 112 crore. It was for the first time that the NMC’s property tax collection figures had crossed Rs 100 crore-mark.

The civic administration is also planning to launch a drive against property tax defaulters in a bid to achieve property tax collection target for the current year.

NMC collects property tax online and also through six divisional offices — in Nashik East, Nashik West, Panchavati, Satpur, Nashik Road and Cidco divisions.

The civic body gives 1% concession to realty owners who pay property taxes online. Moreover, up to 5% concession in property tax is given to prompt property taxpayers who pay the tax during the first quarter of the financial year.
