NKDA collects Rs 83 lakh from property tax and mutation fees

The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) has collected approximately Rs 83 lakh from property tax and mutation fees from the outreach camps organised in various housing complexes throughout New Town over the past three months. The authorities intend to organize more camps in the upcoming months, which will also include commercial units in their outreach efforts.

The outreach camps were held at different housing complexes like Sukhobristi Housing, Rosedale, Unitech, and a few others over a period of 14 days. A total of 75 property tax assessments were submitted resulting in the collection of Rs 39 lakh in property tax revenue. Furthermore, 101 mutation applications were submitted, leading to the collection of Rs 44 lakh in mutation fees.

The purpose of organizing these camps was to accelerate the collection of overdue property tax payments by facilitating on-the-spot payment options, simplifying the mutation process with real-time support, and enhancing public participation through targeted awareness campaigns.”Our goal is to encourage more taxpayers to make timely payments to prevent defaults,” stated an official from NKDA.

Officials announced that more camps will be arranged in the upcoming months, broadening the initiative to commercial units and establishments doing business in New Town.
