The Mumbai police registered a fresh case against city builder Jayesh Tanna and his kin for cheating a flat buyer of Rs 3.30 crore by selling the flat promised to him in Andheri to a third party.
The Amboli police on Tuesday booked the directors of Saisagar consultant Jayesh, his wife Shradda, his brother Deep Tanna and son Vivek Tanna for cheating and forgery.
This is the 10th offence registered against Jayesh Tanna and his company for cheating various flat buyers in Borivli, Goregaon, Kandivli and Andheri.
The complainant in the case is businessman Vinod Punjabi, a resident of Andheri who alleged that in 2014 he had approached the developer for a flat in its project near
Bhavan’s college in Andheri west. He booked a 3 BHK flat measuring around 1,200 square feet on the 9th floor. The project was to be completed in 2017 but he failed.
Police said the developer also accepted Rs 17 lakh as stamp duty from Punjabi but neither registered his agreement nor did he pay stamp duty. Punjabi later found out that the said flat was already sold to a third party.
