MCG launches chatbot to provide property tax-related information

The municipal authority has introduced an official chatbot service aimed at delivering property tax-related information directly to residents through phone calls and text messages. This service will provide details regarding outstanding tax amounts, convenient payment options, submission deadlines, and relevant government concessions and schemes.

All communications will be dispatched from the designated number, 8048637474, as stated by officials. Additional Commissioner Yash Julka remarked, “This initiative represents a crucial advancement towards enhanced transparency and digital empowerment. Citizens should not be misled, as this is an authorized service of the MCG.

They are urged not to disregard calls and messages from this number and to ensure timely payment of their taxes to avoid penalties.” The launch occurs in response to increasing complaints from residents regarding fraudulent calls that demand bill payments and threaten severe consequences for non-compliance.

In certain instances, residents were even instructed to download a specific mobile application or to make immediate payments. To combat such scams, officials have clarified that no such notifications have been issued by the MCG.
