The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will construct over 1,000 LIG flats in Mohanlalganj, Sarojininagar and Sadar for migrant workers who have returned to UP from other states after being rendered jobless during lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic.

LDA chief engineer Indu Shekhar Singh said, “These flats will be constructed in 27 square metre area at a cost of around Rs 6 lakh each. These flats will be given on a rent of Rs 1,200 per month.”

The LDA also announced that construction work at Rashtriya Prerna Sthal and other projects which was stopped during lockdown would resume from June 20. The authority will also speed up work in Vasant Kunj Yojana at Hardoi Road. Officials said over 1,600 allottees would be given possession of flats by July-end.

Rashtriya Prerna Sthal being constructed at Vrindavan Yojana at Hardoi Road, is being developed on 82 acres land. Initially, statues of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Deendayal Upadhayay and Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be installed. A multi-activity centre and an open theatre will also come up. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 125 crore.

LDA has also floated tenders for maintenance of around 120 parks in the city.

LDA vice chairman SK Dwivedi said, “The process for starting development work under LDA jurisdiction has started. Lockdown delayed the work but we will try to finish our projects within stipulated timeline.”
