L&T wins EPC contract for Delhi-Vadodara Expressway in India

L&T Construction’s transportation infrastructure business has been awarded EPC contract to build Packages 11 and 22 of the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway in India

L&T Construction’s transportation infrastructure business has been awarded EPC contract to build Packages 11 and 22 of the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway in India.

Upon completion, the Delhi Vadodara Expressway will become the country’s longest expressway of National Highways Authority of India under its Bharat Mala programme.

Under the contract, L&T will be responsible for work that includes eight-lane green-field expressway of 36km with the perpetual pavement, service/slip roads, interchanges, ROB, major/minor bridges, vehicular/pedestrian/cattle underpasses and animal underpasses/overpasses.

Additionally, the transportation infrastructure business of L&T has been selected by the Public Works (Roads) Directorate, Government of West Bengal for the reconstruction of four-lane Tallah ROB (HemantaSetu).
The Hemanta Setu is located adjacent to Tallah Railway Station on Barrackpore Trunk Road, Kolkata, West Bengal.

As per the terms, L&T will be responsible for the reconstruction of four-lane Tallah ROB and viaduct connecting both ends Shyam Bazar & Dunlop, including Chitpur Ramp.

L&T’s water & effluent treatment business has also been awarded EPC contracts from State Water & Sanitation Mission, Uttar Pradesh, to implement water supply schemes for Shivhar and Parasi group of villages in Mahoba and Sonbadhra districts, respectively.

The scope of work for the two projects includes the design and construction of three intake structures, three water treatment plants of capacity 64MLD, and 1,171Km of transmission and distribution pipelines.

It will also include the construction of 20 clear water reservoirs, 37 overhead service reservoirs, 20 pump houses, 73,600 house service connections, associated electromechanical & instrumentation.

Under the contract, the firm will also be responsible for the measurement of input & output water quantity and quality through suitable SCADA & other instrumentation works.
L&T stated that the value of the contract is between INR25bn ($330m) and 50bn ($660m).
