Klemm Bohrtechnik has introduced the new KR 704-3G drilling rig, the next generation of the company’s popular KR 704 series.
The new drilling rig is designed for challenging drilling operations in urban environments. The machine is also capable of tackling jobs within existing buildings, as the new model delivers high performance with compact dimensions and a low weight.
The 6.2 tonne machine, with a 150 litre per minute hydraulic circuit, is powered by a tier 4 Final 55kW diesel engine.
The new KR 704-3G offers the option to use a telescopic drill mast. As well, the low base carrier width of 95 cm makes the KR704-3G ideal for drilling operations in difficult surroundings with narrow doorways and low ceiling heights.
The kinematics of the drill mast allow a lateral pivoting by 45 degrees, which improves maneuverability and allows drilling points in building corners to be reached.
Special civil engineering tasks, in particular micropiles for foundations and the underpinning of existing foundations with high-pressure injection columns, can be carried out under difficult conditions.
The hydraulic system of the rig is equipped with a load sensing pump and a load independent volume flow control.
The KR 704-3G also features an increase in system pressure to 350 bar for drilling functions. This concept also permits the operation of a hydraulic drifter.
As a standard feature, all drill function may be controlled via a remote, which offers numerous advantages for operators when working in confined spaces.
A special protective mode is available for work without a separating protective device under special conditions and restricted operating mode is available for drill rod changes.
Depending on the customer requirements and the drilling task, the rig can also be equipped with different drill masts and a wide range of accessories.
In June, the first KR 704-3G was delivered to a Klemm customer in Germany.
Earlier this year, Klemm launched its new KR 806- 4GM anchor drilling rig with a 215 hp Volvo Penta engine.
The anchor drilling rig was created to meet the growing demand for mechanized manipulation of the drill string.
Designed for overburden drilling, the machine is equipped with a patented remote-controlled MAG 6.1 magazine, features more compact dimensions and a lower weight, compared to the widely available KR 807-7 series.
The new kinematic component group additionally enables guiding of the heavy feed.
Also, the KR 801-3GS was introduced, which is now the most compact, fully equipped drilling rig in the Klemm portfolio. Powered by a 160 hp C4.4 ACERT Caterpillar engine, the rig boasts suitable kinematics for anchor drilling applications.
The double-head system can be moved laterally from the drilling axis to fit rebar cages or anchors into the bore hole, for example.
