Inauguration of the eagerly-awaited road underbridge (RuB) at Hitec City MMTS station is on April 8 by GHMC. Once inaugurated, the RuB will provide a much-needed relief to commuters travelling from Kukatpally to Madhapur and Hitec City, who presently have to overcome traffic blues during peak hours.
With the existing bridge being too narrow, scores of motorists, who move towards Hitec City from Kukatpally end, are forced to travel at a snail’s pace and get stuck in traffic jams near the structure. For the last several years, motorists, especially employees working in IT companies in Madhapur and Gachibowli, have been demanding the civic body to construct a project to ease traffic congestion in the area.
The civic body executed the road underbridge as part of the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) at a cost of Rs 59.09 crore. Primarily, the structure is being constructed to reduce the heavy load on the flyover between Hitec City and Kukatpally. In addition to the RuB, a box drain is also being constructed to avoid inundation near the MMTS station.
Both the four-lane bridge and RCC box drain are complete and the minor issues are to be fixed in a couple of days.
A top official told Deccan Chronicle that the four-lane passage will facilitate the smooth flow of traffic at Hitec City station and also reduce traffic congestion on the Manjeera pipeline road.
“While the railways has executed the RuB portion works, the municipal corporation has taken up the balance works, including approach road earthworks, retaining wall and RCC box drain works,’ the official said.
