Gujarat RERA is likely to buy a plot of around 3,500 sq metres from the Gandhinagar Urban Development Authority (Guda) for around Rs 44 crore.
The authority has decided to set up a new office complex – RERA Bhavan – in Gandhinagar to house the RERA authority and the tribunal. The procedure to buy the land will soon begin.
Currently, the GujRERA office is situated in Sahyog Sankul, Gandhinagar, while the tribunal has been set up in Karmayogi Bhavan. “We want to set up RERA Bhavan in Gandhinagar and the process is expected to start soon.
Guda has allotted us a plot of around 3,500 sq metres near Sargasan. We had been planning to set up such a headquarter for the last two years and have started the land acquisition process. We will have both, the authority and the tribunal, at the same place to help stakeholders,” said a GujRERA official.
The authority will construct a unique building which signifies its connection with the fast developing real estate sector of the state, added sources.
The Central government enacted the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 which was enforced with effect from May 1, 2017. Under the Act, the state government established GujRERA for regulation and promotion of the real estate sector.
“Currently, the authority’s office is situated in Sahyog Sankul, which has most district-level offices. We are a state-level authority so we are planning to set up a new headquarters,” said another official.
Meanwhile, GujRERA has extended the deadline for the Voluntary Compliance Scheme (VCS) till January 31 to allow defaulters to meet the required compliances.
