Kerala government has decided to ease the procedures for building construction by allowing construction based on affidavit of the owner and empaneled licensee without waiting for permit from local body.
The state Cabinet on Wednesday decided to promulgate an ordinance in this regard to amend the relevant rules. It would be applicable only to buildings with height less than seven metres and area less than 300 square metre for residential building and less than 100 square metre for commercial buildings.
As per the fresh procedure, once a building plan is submitted to the local body along with an affidavit of the building owner and those authorised to prepare building plans, the local body should issue an acknowledgement within five days.
The acknowledgement should be considered as permit. In case any violation is detected later, fine ranging from Rs. 2 lakh will be imposed.
