The department of town and country planning (DTCP) will conduct a drone survey of all illegal colonies in and around Gurgaon. The district administration has given the go-ahead for the survey, based on which the state government is likely to plan the regularisation of a few old colonies. The survey will start on Wednesday.
District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said that a private agency has been entrusted with the work of carrying out the survey of around 300 illegal colonies, spread over 1,500 acres, which will be done to ascertain the year of their development, the plot sizes, and the number of families living in these settlements.
“The permission to fly drones has been granted by the district administration after inputs from the police and revenue department. However, there will be restrictions on flying over sensitive areas, including government offices and other important establishments,” he said.
On the mandate of the drone survey, Batth said that the enforcement wing of DTCP will coordinate with the private agency and the scope of work will include preparing the layout plan of individual colonies based on geo-references. “Also the size of roads and construction status of each plot will be mapped and overall services available in these colonies will be listed along with their development status.”
Batth said that around 1,500 notices have been issued to developers of illegal colonies since the existence of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975. “Tentative area will be of around 300 colonies, which will cover all notices issued to date and also the expanded area where action has been taken by the department. We are preparing the database of all such notices to decide the future course of action.”
Simultaneously, the department will continue razing fresh illegal structures and colonies. Also, the department will get FIRs registered against the persons behind the construction of new colonies.
