Vijaybhai Rupani told all the district collectors that it is very important that people stay at home and maintain social distancing to prevent further spread of corona virus.

Gujarat chief minister Vijaybhai Rupani held video conference with the district collectors and municipal commissioners throughout the state and directed the district administration and police to monitor and maintain essential supplies, necessary services and law and order during the lockdown.

Vijaybhai Rupani told all the district collectors that it is very important that people stay at home and maintain social distancing to prevent further spread of corona virus.

In this regard, he said that the supply chain should not be broken so that people can get the necessities of life easily and for this, it is necessary to ensure that people do not come to the wholesale market and retail market. He also instructed the district authorities to issue passes for local vendors so that they can directly go to the residential areas to sell vegetables.

The chief minister also urged all to take special care to ensure that the production units of food items including bakery items, wafers, flour, pulses are working so as to meet requirement.

Rupani appealed to the workers and labouers working in the small and big industrial units in the state not to leave for their native place during this 21-day nationwide lockdown period. He asked the workers not to walk all the way to their native places in the neighbouring Madhya Pradesh or Rajasthan. It is rather safer to stay back at home near their workplace, away from crowds.

Rupani said the Gujarat government is concerned about food and other daily needs of such workers in the state due to lockdown. He has requested industrial associations, builders’ associations and trade and commerce organisations to arrange for boarding and lodging, food and other daily needs, of such workers so that the latter need not leave for their native place.

The chief minister directed the district administrations to take care of migrant workers and daily wage laborers with the help of local industrial organizations and helping groups. He also instructed that the workers of industrial units and areas of Morbi, Kutch, Ankleshwar, Vapi, Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Bharuch-Surat should not go to their homelands.
