Coimbatore corporation seals two illegal buildings

The building, on a 12-cent OSR land, was rented out to a private person, who was using it to run a business. A team led by assistant town planning officer A Babu sealed the building and retrieved the land worth 2.25 crore.

Town planning officials from the west zone on Monday sealed a building that was constructed on an open space reserve (OSR) land 25 years ago.

The building, on a 12-cent OSR land, was rented out to a private person, who was using it to run a business. A team led by assistant town planning officer A Babu sealed the building and retrieved the land worth 2.25 crore.

The officials also sealed a 1,862 sq feet commercial building at GP Signal in ward 48 that was constructed without approval from the town planning department.

“The owner of the building was carrying out construction activities to expand the business. We sent three notices in six months to stop the construction work. But the owner did not respond to the notices and continued with construction activities,” an official from the town planning wing said.
