Chhattisgarh extends date for submission of property tax till April 30

The Urban Administration and Development Department issued a circular to this effect asking the municipal corporations, municipal councils and other civic bodies to receive property tax from the citizens till April 15.

Following citizens’ demand, the Chhattisgarh government has extended the last date for submission of property tax, scheduled to be March 31, without penalty in the urban bodies to April 30.

The Urban Administration and Development Department issued a circular to this effect asking the municipal corporations, municipal councils and other civic bodies to receive property tax from the citizens till April 15.

The department has also asked the civic bodies to ensure physical distancing during the tax collection keeping in mind the recent surge in Covid cases in the state.

Meanwhile, Raipur Municipal Corporation commissioner Mayank Chaturvedi asked all the zone commissioners of ten zones, assistant revenue officers, revenue inspectors, assistant revenue inspectors and other staffers to comply with the urban administration department’s order with focus on the collection of tax from big debtors.

Earlier, Raipur mayor Aijaz Dhebar had urged chief minister Bhupesh Baghel for the extension of the date of tax collection for the convenience of the people. In response, the chief minister asked urban administration and development minister Shiv Kumar Dahariya to extend the date.
