Majority of people pay tax through e-Sampark centres and as per the records, 4,000 to 5,000 people are coming daily to these centres to pay the tax and the flow of property tax amount has increased significantly
As per records, till date, around 60,000 people from both the residential as well as and the commercial property categories have paid tax to the city body authority through multiple modes. The record also revealed that the authority has received around Rs 26.96 crore till date and hoping to get significant amount in the coming days too.
“Though there are a total three modes to make the payment i.e. e-Sampark centres, online and bank. But majority of people prefer to come to e- Sampark centres located at different locations in the city. Therefore, we received maximum amount of the property tax through these centres,” an official said.
Sources in the civic body authority revealed that the property tax collection of both the residential as well as commercial properties had considerably come down last month during the closure of the e-Sampark centres.
“As per our records, the property tax collection had come down from 50 per cent to 60 per cent last month due to closure of the centres. Therefore, we did not get much during this period. Though, some people were paying through online mode and banks, it is very less as compared to what we get at the centres,” said sources.
Instead of May 31 as the last date, the municipal corporation has now postponed the date till June 30.
