Audit in 17 societies with structural defects to begin in a week

The structural audit, according to sources, is likely to be completed in 45 days and the cost of the audit will be paid by the developers.

As the agencies are all set to begin a structural audit of 17 residential societies with serious defects, the district administration along with town and country planning department (DTCP) will hold a meeting with developers and RWA members on Wednesday to discuss the procedure.

The structural audit, according to sources, is likely to be completed in 45 days and the cost of the audit will be paid by the developers.

In the meeting, the authorities will also discuss standard operating procedure (SOP). Also, the recently constituted panel of four expert agencies will be assigned societies to start the audit process.

District town planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia said, “The structural audit is likely to begin within a week. We have called a meeting of RWAs and developers to discuss the process. Officials of four structural audit agencies will also be present in the meeting.”

“It is expected that the audit process will be completed within six to seven weeks, and thereafter the agencies will submit reports to the district administration and DTCP. The future course of action will be decided on the basis of recommendation made by the panel,” he said.

Madholia said the department will also assign societies to the panel, and each agency will get four or five residential societies for the audit. The experts will carry out visual inspection in the first phase, and those found with serious lapses will be tested again.

Deputy commissioner Nishant Yadav said RWAs will be introduced to audit agencies in the meeting.

In the first week of August, the authorities had finalised the panel of four agencies for carrying out structural audits of 17 residential societies where residents allege serious flaws in construction quality. Members of the panel include Bureau Vertias, TPC Technical projects Consultants, Vintech Consultants and NNC Design International.
