The state govt is examining the feasibility of developing four roads in North Andhra districts as four-lane roads to enhance connectivity, improve spiritual tourism in those stretches, and ease the traffic hurdles. This initiative also aims to connect tribal pockets and interstate roads. These roads will not only connect many areas in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts but also link a few roads in the border districts of Odisha.
The Vizianagaram MP, Kalisetti Appala Naidu of TDP, met with the chief minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and requested him to develop those roads in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam as four-lane roads recently. CM Naidu responded positively to the request of Appala Naidu and promised to develop those four roads.
As per the proposals, the 160 km road from Vizianagaram to Palasa, connecting Chipurupalli, Rajam, Palakonda, Kotturu in AP, Parlakhemundi in Odisha, Meliaputti, Chapara, and Palasa in Srikakulam, was proposed for a four-lane road. The MP told TOI that this road would become an interstate road and also be useful for the tribals for marketing their produce of different crops.
The 60km road from Rambhadrapuram to Chilakapalem via Rajam and Ponduru was proposed as a four-lane road. Another road from the same Rambhadrapuram to Rayagada in Odisha via Parvathipuram would become an interstate road, and Nellimarla junction to Ranastalam via Ramatheerdhalu was proposed as a four-lane road and that will help spiritual tourism, as the famous Majji Gairamma temple in Rayagada and Lord Kodanda Rama Swamy temple in Ramatheerdham would attract tourists.
The MP said that all these roads are important to provide a hassle-free journey from the tribal pockets to Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam cities. He requested the govt to take up these proposals and start work as early as possible.
