The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had a windfall on the second day of its online e-auctions of AMC plots. On Tuesday, bids flew for prime plots in Vatva and Makarba, which fetched a total Rs 41.11 crore.
The Makarba plot, a 3,799 sq metre residential parcel, saw bids go from a base rate of Rs 35,000 per sq m to Rs 82,000, a premium of Rs 32,000. Similarly, the 2,623 sq m commercial plot in Vatva drew wide interest and ended up fetching Rs 38,000 per sq m, Rs 3,000 above the base rate.
On Monday, in Bodakdev, AMC’s priciest plot changed hands. The coveted plot opposite the Rajpath Club was bagged by a bid of Rs 3.20 lakh per sq m, translating to a staggering Rs 148 crore. This surpassed the previous record set in May 2021, when a Bodakdev plot had fetched Rs 77.04 crore. Two of the three Bodakdev plots on offer failed to attract any bids, while the remaining auctioned plots contributed Rs 41 crore to the AMC’s kitty. Notably, Tuesday’s e-auction comes after a failed attempt in February 2023, when all seven plots put up for sale went unsold, forcing the AMC to revamp its strategy.
