Ahuja developers, directors and their Chinese partners booked in cheating case for allegedly cheating a flat buyer of Rs 1.33 crore by failing to register the agreement and for selling the booked flat to a third party.
Those booked are Jagdish Ahuja, Gautam Ahuja, Chandras Kotian, Ashok Gacheria and the Chinese company officials Jia Vei, Liyank Shaung, Ya Wang, Snehanjali SB Developers and Hive Carbon Zero Developers Private Limited.
In January 2023, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police had arrested Jagdish Ahuja in a Rs 27- crore cheating case when the flat buyers alleged that the Ahujas did not deliver the flat.
In the fresh case, the complaint was filed by Prashant Bhat, a senior official of Sony Pictures, who alleged that in 2014 his father, Mahendra Bhat, had booked a flat in O2, an upcoming project at Sion-Chunabhatti by Snehanjali and SB Developers.
Prashant said that his father paid the developer (SB Developers) Rs 1.09 crore and they were to get a flat on the 11th floor as per the sale agreement and the project was to be completed by 2017 as per MahaRERA. However, even in 2019, the project was not completed.
An allotment letter was issued in the name of Mahendra Bhat. He died in 2018, and the builder told Prashant Bhat that they are allotting a different flat on the same floor and they have to pay an extra Rs 4.05 lakh.
However the Chinese company took over the project and after Bhat’s death, his son Prashant started following-up with the builder. In 2019, Prashant was shocked when he inquired and learnt that the flat his father had booked was already sold to one Ram Gupta.
