On Friday, the city civic body’s tax department sealed 22,624 properties including several shops and commercial establishments across the city for non-payment of property tax.
The highest number of sealed properties, 5,441, are in the areas falling under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s east zone. During its sealing drive, the officials recovered pending tax amounting to Rs 14.35 crore, that includes Rs 3.06 crore from the east zone alone.
A statement from the civic body said that 1,008 properties in the central zone, 3,064 in north, 3,638 in west, 256 in north-west and 4,376 properties in the south-west zone were sealed on Friday. In the last one month, the civic body has sealed about 50,000 properties.
