NMRDA estimates two lakh unauthorized plots, gets only 15,000 applications

NMRDA commissioner Manoj Kumar Suryawanshi, also NIT chairman, said in a press conference on Wednesday that action will be taken against unauthorized layouts, plots and constructions in case they are not get regularized.

The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) estimates there are two lakh unauthorized plots, but it has received only 15,000 applications for regularization under the Gunthewari Act.

NMRDA commissioner Manoj Kumar Suryawanshi, also NIT chairman, said in a press conference on Wednesday that action will be taken against unauthorized layouts, plots and constructions in case they are not get regularized.

“Extension has been given till September 30. We are planning to extend it by one more month. Later, we will start taking action,” he said.

After a delay of 26 months, NMRDA had implemented Gunthewari Act in NMRDA from June 1. Applications have been invited online and regularization charges are same as last many years. Regularization will be done on residential and agriculture land.

Suryawanshi said around 10,000 plots were regularized under Gunthewari 2.0 in the city. “NIT received around 84,000 applications of which decisions have been taken on 52,000. Scrutiny of 210 unauthorized layouts has started,” he said.

Suryawanshi said applications for regularization of 21 layouts situated in proposed Smart City area were also received, and decision will be taken after receiving clearance from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). “NIT will also regularize layouts and plots located in Hudkeshwar and Narsala,” he said.
