56 days are to go before the proposed trial run of Bhopal Metro in the 4-km long priority corridor. Coaches are set to arrive in August and main concern remains the construction work at metro depot at Subhash Nagar.
A review meeting was held on Monday regarding the progress of construction works in view of the target of Metro trial run of the priority corridor.
Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) MD Manish Singh instructed track contractors of Bhopal and Indore to continue with the work despite monsoon season. “Work should not stop due to rain,” said Singh referring to track welding work. “Deadline for the trial run to be held in September this year is irreversible, before that all the works should be completed,” he added.
In Bhopal, about 2 km of rail has been laid on the viaduct so far, while it is a 3 km long viaduct and 1 km depot track in Indore.
Contractors have been instructed to double the number of labourers within two days. Completion deadline for the same is August 20, according to MPMRCL.
Metro officials spoke about progress related to Indore and Bhopal stations under priority corridor and assured that all civil and system works are going on at a fast pace and will be completed in time.
Another review meeting is scheduled in 10 days.
