Deputy registrar’s office will soon be set up in Noida soon

This was announced by Varun Khare, deputy registrar of societies, at a meeting with members of the Noida Federation of Apartment Owners Associations (NOFAA) in Meerut.

A full-fledged office of the deputy registrar of societies will soon be set up in Noida, so that residents do not have to travel to Meerut for every issue related to highrises and residential sectors, including annual RWA or AOA elections.

This was announced by Varun Khare, deputy registrar of societies, at a meeting with members of the Noida Federation of Apartment Owners Associations (NOFAA) in Meerut. Till the new office is set up in Noida, the deputy registrar’s office in Meerut will hear the complaints of Noida residents via video calls, he told NOFAA.

An operational office of the deputy registrar in Surajpur is not fully equipped to deal with all issues related to highrises and residential sectors.Rajiva Singh, president of NOFAA, said, “We had a meeting with the deputy registrar in Meerut, where various issues faced by AOAs of highrise societies in the district were discussed. Some of these included the need for easy renewal of all documents at the Surajpur office in Greater Noida, an order to make the model bylaws available online to clear confusion among governing AOAs.”

On these, Khare said, “The current office in Surajpur is not equipped to handle the end-to-end renewal process of registration and therefore, the residents’ welfare bodies are still expected to submit the hard copies in the Meerut office. But to streamline the process, we plan to set up a full-fledged office of the district registrar in Noida.”

“Also, we intend to take video calls so that residents don’t have to make multiple visits to the Meerut office,” said Khare, who currently sits once a week in the Surajpur office in Greater Noida and also in Ghaziabad to address local issues related to societies and apartments.

Khare, however, agreed to review the demand for a white paper on the model bylaws and revert on the same after due consideration. “There are certain court rulings and government orders which have recently come up and hence needful actions shall be considered before moving forward,” he said. “A digital database of AOA elections is in the pipeline to help monitor the process in future.”

Other issues discussed in the meeting included builder-related issues where NOFAA maintained that the formation of AOAs in the initial years with builder representatives ‘create bigger issues in handing over charge’. “Our objective must be a better community living among highrise societies. We, therefore, requested Khare to take forward our recommendations to the competent authority to help AOAs for smooth governance,” said Rajesh Sahay, secretary general of NOFAA. Residents also demanded regulation on the right to vote and fight elections where the election process should be elaborately defined as per the society bylaws with due guidelines and clarity.
