PM Gati Shakti routes towards record-breaking progress with NH6

This new infrastructure project, which is a part of the NH 6, will be running parallel with Samruddhi Mahamarga. The expressway will be connecting several major towns through states before finally reaching Kolkata.

As the project will run through several cities, you can definitely expect less tolls on the route as opposed to the other expressways built along with it. The expressway being built will definitely be step towards immense progress and development of the country. Moreover, the connectivity and ease of transport will definitely improve in the areas of states, the road will pass through. This project is also, naturally, creating more employment opportunities, in more ways than one.

The expressway shall be constructed at a total distance of 54 kilometers. The single-lane piece of this massive highway will be built by the month of May 2022 as per the contract awarded by the NHAI, (National Highway Authorities of India) between Akola & Amravati districts of Maharashtra, India.

National Highway 6, commonly referred to as NH 6, is a primary national highway in India, which passes through the Indian states of Meghalaya, Assam and Mizoram. Before renumbering of national highways NH-6 was variously numbered as old national highways 40, 44, 154 & 54.This project requires constructing a part of the National Highway 6 (NH6) that runs through the important cities of Surat, Dhule, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Akola, Amravati, Nagpur, Bhandara, Rajnandgaon, Durg, Raipur, Mahasamund, Sambalpur, Kharagpur finally reaching Kolkata.

The is expressway is being constructed under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP). The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) has made significant progress under PM Gati Shakti, aimed at improving multi-modal connectivity and last mile connectivity across the country. As part of PM Gati Shakti NMP, the Ministry plans to develop 22 Greenfield Expressways, 23 other key infrastructure projects & other highway projects and 35 Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs), as part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana and other schemes of the Ministry.

Some of the major Expressways and Corridors, which are under construction stage are Delhi – Mumbai Expressway, Ahmedabad – Dholera Expressway, Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, Ambala-Kotputli Expressway, Amritsar-Bhatinda-Jamnagar Expressway, Raipur-VZG Expressway, Hyderabad-VZG Expressway, UER II, Chennai-Salem Expressway and Chittor-Thatchur Expressway.
The ambitious programme, launched by PM Modi in New Delhi on 13 October 2021, intends to break departmental silos and bring in more holistic and integrated planning and execution of projects, which will help in bringing down the logistics cost and translate into enormous economic gains to consumers, farmers, youth as well as those engaged in businesses.

Subsequently, on 21 October, 2021, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the proposal for development of ‘PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for providing Multi-Modal Connectivity to various economic zones. The Ministry is taking steps to further intensify the efforts to realize the vision of the PM of providing seamless connectivity across India so that it becomes $5 trillion economy by 2025.
