Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stated on Friday that his administration will guarantee housing for all impoverished individuals by 2029 and will allocate housing plots to those without land.
While addressing the Assembly, the Chief Minister encouraged eligible beneficiaries who have yet to receive a house to submit their applications, assuring that both the central and state governments would assume responsibility for providing housing to everyone. “We will not only construct houses for all the poor by 2029 but also offer housing plots to those who are landless,” Naidu remarked, emphasizing that the government aims to provide housing for all the underprivileged.
He noted that the state government plans to allocate housing plots to everyone before 2029, and if housing plots are unavailable, the government will construct apartments.
In anticipation of the Ugadi festival in 2026, the Chief Minister announced that the government will conduct three lakh housewarming ceremonies under the welfare housing initiative, pledging to organize 10 lakh such events within 2026. Regarding agriculture, Naidu mentioned that the southern state contributes 10 percent of the national agricultural production. He presented a five-pronged strategy focusing on water security, demand-driven crops, food processing, marketing, and government support to enhance agricultural development.
For the fiscal year 2025-26, the Chief Minister indicated that Rs 13,772 crore has been allocated for providing free electricity to agriculture, and farmers are receiving financial assistance of Rs 20,000 per year under the Annadata Sukhibava welfare scheme. He pointed out that only Rs 7,500 was provided to farmers during the previous YSRCP administration.
He underscored that the TDP-led NDA government is now offering more than double that amount. The TDP leader also revealed plans to significantly expand AI agronomist and farm mechanization services. Highlighting that Rs 14,230 crore has been invested in the food processing sector, Naidu stated that the government is focusing on this area.
Noting that 15 lakh acres are currently engaged in natural farming across 8,168 villages, he stated that the objective is to increase this area to 50 lakh acres. In addition to establishing a significant cocoa city near Eluru, he mentioned that the government will supply electricity at a rate of Rs 1.5 per unit for aquaculture, among other initiatives.
Reassuring ongoing support, Naidu affirmed that his government would assist farmers in all situations and also provide help to tenant farmers. Meanwhile, Irrigation Minister N Rama Naidu informed the House that water would be delivered to Anakapalli by June 2026 via the Polavaram left main canal. He also indicated that the government has earmarked Rs 600 crore in the FY27 budget for the Sujala Sravanti project in North Andhra. The House was subsequently adjourned until Wednesday, March 4.
