26,000 property owners set to get revised tax bills

A majority of the revised property tax bills has been published. Sources said the distribution process will start in a day or two to cover all taxpayers falling under the category.

The municipal corporation (MC) is ready to send fresh tax bills to over 26,000 owners.

Civic body records show that around 26,500 owners are going to benefit from the relaxation, and bills were being prepared accordingly.

Around 22,000 are residential properties in economic weaker section (EWS) colonies, 3,000 commercial properties in villages and the remaining 1,500 are commercial properties in EWS colonies.

“With the property tax of residential properties reduced and penalty waived off by the Chandigarh administration, the amount has come down significantly. We are preparing fresh property tax bills to inform about the revised charges. This will allow residents to deposit the new amount on time,” sources said.

The MC had extended the rebate from July 31 to August 31, the third. following the two-month one given from June 1. Initially, the MC had given rebate till May 31 and then extended it till July 31.
