Uttar Pradesh cabinet approves amendment in township policy

Under the policy made for UP Housing and Development Board and development authorities to encourage private investment in housing schemes, the developer had to pay urban development fees at the time of clearance of a detailed project report (DPR).

The UP Cabinet on Tuesday cleared an amendment in the Integrated Township Policy-2014 (License Based System) following which developers will have to pay urban development fee as per the layout plan.

Under the policy made for UP Housing and Development Board and development authorities to encourage private investment in housing schemes, the developer had to pay urban development fees at the time of clearance of a detailed project report (DPR).

After the amendment, township developers will have to pay the fee as per layout plan instead of paying it at the time of DPR clearance.

In another decision, the Cabinet approved a proposal to install a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Circuit House in Kanpur at a cost of Rs 37.35 lakh.

A proposal to widen Chakiya Marg from Mohansarai Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar costing Rs 412.5 crore was also cleared. It is the main road connecting BHU, DLW, Varanasi Cantt railway station, bus station, Sarnath, Chandauli, Azamgarh, Ghazipur and Gorakhpur. The Rs 269 crore project for widening of Varanasi-Bhadohi-Gopiganj road was also cleared.

The cabinet also cleared the development of 23 bus stations under UP State Road Transport Corporation. In the first phase, 17 bus stations will be taken up on design, build, finance, operate and transfer model.

As per an agreement between the UP and Madhya Pradesh governments to allow hassle-free movement of vehicles between the two states, it was decided to make certain zones in Chitrakoot district free. The rule, in place since November 21, 2006, has been extended.

The cabinet also approved a waiver of stamp duty of more than Rs 500 for private developers constructing EWS units as part of housing schemes.

The stamp duty was payable as per an order of December 5, 2013.
