Data related to MahaRERA-registered projects may soon be integrated with that of the registration department to check for any violation of rules, senior revenue officials have confirmed.
State housing secretary Milind Mhaiskar said discussions on the integration of data were on. “We are working on it and the RERA and registration data will be integrated to ensure no violation of rules.” he told TOI.
The move follows the illegal registration of over 10,000 documents in Pune and other areas of the state. Officials in the know-how said an inbuilt check would be worked out to ensure automatic reflection of the data related to the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA)-registered projects in the ‘survey number’ column.
“This will allow the citizens and officials to know if a project has been registered with the state real estate authority,” a senior government official said.
Around 36,593 projects are registered with MahaRERA across Maharashtra. Of these, 9,790 are complete. A meeting between the property registration department and MahaRERA has been held on the data integration issue, another official said.
“Once the inbuilt check is in place, the MahaRERA registration number of the projects will automatically reflect in the survey number column,” a senior MahaRERA official said.
State developer bodies said data integration at the property registration department level would be of big help. “We have nearly 3,000 developers registered with us in the state. The integration of our data with that of the registration department will keep a check on the fly-by-night operators and help citizens, who may be caught unawares,” Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (Credai) state president Sunil Furde said.
