The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started the six-laning work of the Satara to Kagal stretch on the Pune-Bangalore National Highway between Kasegaon to Peth Naka in full swing.
The 133km road stretch between Satara and Kagal is expected to be completed by January 2025. The work orders for six-laning have been given in two phases – one between Shendre (in Satara) to Peth Naka and the other between Peth Naka to Kagal.
A site engineer on the condition of anonymity, said, “Widening of the road in the Peth Naka area has started. The trees on both sides of the highway, which are obstructing the widening work are being cut. In Walva tehsil, around 40 houses on Kasegaon road will be demolished for the highway widening work. The residents have been given notices for the same. But the decision regarding compensation will be taken by the NHAI and gram panchayat.”
“In the accident-prone areas of Yevlewadi Phata, Nerle, Kalamwadi, Kedarwadi Phata, Waghwadi Phata, Kameri and Yelur, flyovers will be constructed. While the existing flyovers at Kasegaon and Peth Naka will remain the same,” informed the site engineer.
