The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has issued new invitations for housing assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0. This program, which commenced on September 1, 2024, will continue until 2029. It is designed to assist families lacking adequate housing within the RMC jurisdiction through the beneficiary-led construction (BLC) component.
Eligible families must have been permanent residents within RMC limits as of September 1 of the previous year and must not possess a pucca house. Additionally, their annual household income should be below Rs 3 lakh. “Applications can be submitted both online and offline, accompanied by documents such as Aadhaar, income certificate, proof of land ownership, and photographs,” stated Chandradeep Kumar, assistant administrator of RMC.
Furthermore, applicants are required to provide an affidavit confirming that they do not own a pucca house anywhere in India. Those with clear land titles may receive direct financial assistance of up to Rs 2.5 lakh for home construction. Aftab Alam, the city manager of RMC, remarked, “Since 2015, more than 10,000 beneficiaries have received financial aid under the PMAY scheme in Ranchi. This new phase will benefit thousands more.” The civic body has also mandated the linking of Aadhaar numbers with mobile numbers for all applicants.
