Encouraged by huge revenue earnings from auctioning off prime land parcels in and around the city for real estate development, the state plans to engage a reputable real estate firm to develop the knowledge-based theme township Samridhhi on 51.7 acres in Kalyani on a lease for 99 years.
State officials said the plan is to select a developer through e-auction by KMDA in December. KMDA has floated an expression of interest inviting applications to participate in the auction.
Government officials said the real estate sector was badly hit during the pandemic, but has made a spectacular turn-around. “We are getting a huge price for unlocking land, which we did not expect,” said an urban development official.
According to plans, the proposed analytics theme-based township will have residential and commercial clusters with urban infrastructure amenities and other allied township facilities. The thrust will be on developing a knowledge-based economic zone which will promote analytics.
The proposed township project off Kalyani Expressway, which is expected to draw in a few thousand crores of investment, is one of the six proposed theme-based township projects cleared by the state cabinet in 2015. The state had earlier come up with plans to develop an analytics hub in Kalyani and the CM had named it Samriddhi.
