Nashik Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) has earned Rs 54 crore property tax in the first two months of the current financial year.
During the same period last fiscal, NMC had collected property tax of Rs 19 crore only.
As per the scheme, 5% tax rebate was given if complete property tax was paid in April and 3% if paid in May, respectively.
Moreover, there was an additional 1% concession in property tax if paid online.
In April this fiscal, the NMC had collected Rs 28 crore, while it collected a total Rs 26 crore in May.
NMC officials said that apart from the tax rebate, the NMC commissioner Ramesh Pawar had also directed the property tax department officials and all the six divisional officers of the NMC to approach the big taxpayers and urge them to avail of the tax rebate scheme. This also helped the civic body to earn more revenue through the scheme.
