Ludhiana civic body recovers Rs 7 lakh in special tax camps

Joint commissioner Kulpreet Singh said March 31 is the deadline to pay property tax, after which the residents will have to pay 20% penalty and 18% annual interest on the delayed payment.

To facilitate the residents in paying their taxes and availing trade licences, municipal corporation (MC) on Tuesday organised special camps in ward number 38 and 31.

Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu and Ludhiana South MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina inaugurated the special camps in their respective areas.

MC recovered over Rs 7 lakh as property tax and water sewer charges from the residents during both the camps, besides renewing and issuing over 200 trade licences.

Atam Nagar councillors reached MC’s zone-D office and complained that such camps were not being organised in their areas on the directions of the AAP leaders. MC commissioner ensured them camps in their wards as well.
