Indore to get award for digitalization and modernization of land records

Madhya Pradesh has secured second position out of total nine states, which will get the award, in the country.

Indore is among 15 districts of Madhya Pradesh to be awarded with ‘Bhoomi Samman’ (Platinum Certificate) by the President of India on Tuesday for excellent progress in digitalization and modernization of land records to make it easily accessible for the common man.

Madhya Pradesh has secured second position out of total nine states, which will get the award, in the country. Principal revenue commissioner cum commissioner land records Dr Sanay Goyal, who will receive the award for the state, said, “A total 15 districts of Madhya Pradesh, which is highest after Odisha, have been selected for the ‘Bhoomi Samman’ (Platinum Certificate) for outstanding performance in digitalization and modernization of land records.

“The process of digitalization and modernization of land records include making khasra and map of the land online, scanning of old records, geo-referencing of map, translation of the documents in any Indian language along with generating the Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN) that have longitude and latitude coordinates of the land parcel and is based on detailed surveys and geo-referenced cadastral maps,” he explained.

He added that the ULPIN number of a land is also called ‘Bhu-Aadhaar’ as it is usually compared with unique identity number – Aadhaar card — of a person. “With so far generating around 3.5 crore ULPIN number, MP is leading in it,” he claimed.

The senior official said that apart from Indore, Khargone, Vidhisha, Guna, Harda, Sidhi, Ujjain, Anuppur, Bhopal, Tikamgarh, Alirajpur, Agar-Malwa, Singrauli, Umaria and Neemuch will receive the award by the President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday.
