After identifying over 1.60 lakh properties with irregularities in construction and tax records, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has now launched another survey to scan around 20,000 properties with construction size ranging from 2000 sq ft to 5000 sq ft for difference in construction size records.
This comes after IMC’s revenue department found additional construction in around 45,00 properties with construction size of above 5000 sq ft and issued notices to their respective owners for difference of the property tax from the date of registration.
“A fresh survey has been launched and physical inspection of properties between 2000sq ft and 5000 sq ft of built-up area is ongoing. There are around 20,000 such properties which will be checked by zonal teams and demand notices will be issued to their respective owners for the difference in property tax,” IMC’s additional commissioner Bhavya Mitta told .
She added that they expect to make an additional recovery of more than Rs10 crore from these properties.
IMC had earlier identified around 1.60 lakh properties in the city where measurement and registration related irregularities have been found.
These irregularities were found in a GIS survey. Of these, 1 lakh properties were found without registration in IMC’s record.
Similarly, around 21,571 residential properties were found being used for commercial purposes and registration category of 4800 such properties has been changed to commercial category with recovery of Rs5.5 crore, claimed officials.
