IMC has initiated a digital house address project

The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) located in Madhya Pradesh has initiated a digital house address project, which officials assert is the first of its kind in the nation. According to officials, the project entails the placement of distinctive digital plates featuring unique QR codes outside each residence in the city, as stated on Sunday.

The initiative was launched on a pilot basis on Sunday, starting from ward number 82 in the Sudama Nagar area. The objective of the project is to enhance ‘smart’ governance by integrating citizen services with digital technology, as mentioned by an official. “We have integrated our digital address project with the Digipin (Digital Postal Index Number) system established by the central government.

Indore is the pioneering city in the country to implement this,” remarked Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava. He further noted that special digital plates featuring a unique QR code will be affixed outside every house in the city. “By scanning this QR code using a mobile device, one can access the GPS-based digital address of the residence.

Additionally, local taxes such as property tax and water tax can be settled, and complaints regarding civic amenities can also be submitted,” the mayor elaborated. He added that necessary modifications will be made to the digital address project in response to public feedback.
