The Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Gladas) has initiated a crackdown on unauthorized construction within the Shaheed Sukhdev Singh Nagar colony, issuing notices to 43 property owners for breaching approved building plans.

Officials indicate that this enforcement action is a response to a rise in complaints concerning illegal commercial developments in residential areas, particularly along South City and Ayali Khurd roads. Residents have reported heightened traffic congestion and a lack of parking as residential plots are transformed into shops and medical facilities, including Mahal Hospital, without government approval.

Despite receiving initial warnings, numerous developers persisted with their projects, leading Glada to commence the cancellation of residential building plans for the offending locations. Additional chief administrator Vikas Hira cautioned that the agency is now progressing towards more stringent enforcement measures, which may include property seals and demolition operations, to prevent unplanned development throughout the Ludhiana district.

Glada’s chief administrator has urged the public to comply with sanctioned layouts and to verify the credentials of colonies through the agency’s official website prior to purchasing property. The authority upholds a zero-tolerance stance against the proliferation of illegal buildings to safeguard urban infrastructure and ensure public convenience.
